Compact multiple types of waste

Due to the world’s limited resources and the need to protect the environment, it is important to sort, compact, and recycle your waste. Our vertical balers make it easy to sort and compress various types of materials – while reducing volume, saving space, and simplifying logistics.

Below you can see the most common types of waste that can be compacted in a Bramidan baler:

Cardboard

Paper

Soft plastic

Hard plastic

PET bottles

Tin cans

Aluminium cans

EPS

Foam

Textile

Choose your baler based on waste type and volume

The right baler depends on both the type and amount of waste you handle. Each machine produces bales in a specific size, which varies depending on the density and composition of the material.

For larger volumes of waste, it may be worthwhile to opt for a high-capacity model – both to reduce manual workload and to maximise the material’s resale value. However, in many cases, smaller bales are just as practical, especially for lighter materials or where space is limited.

In addition to generating revenue from recyclable materials, baling also offers advantages such as:

  • less time spent on tidying up
  • better use of storage space
  • fewer loose fractions and reduced risk of spillage
  • greater safety and improved workflows

The type of material you want to compact also plays a role. For example, bags and film rarely require large bales to retain their recycling value, while materials such as cardboard and PET are well-suited to larger, tightly packed bales.

User-friendliness and flexible integration into your operations

When investing in a vertical baler, it should not only suit the volume and type of waste – it should also integrate seamlessly with your existing workflows. That’s why all Bramidan machines are developed with user-friendly operation, flexible installation and minimal maintenance in mind.

Our balers can be placed directly where waste is generated – for example, in back rooms, at goods-in areas or near the production line. Their compact design makes it easy to find space, and the intuitive controls mean staff can quickly learn to use the machine safely and efficiently.

With features such as automatic start, bale full indicator and easy ejection, you save time in daily operations and reduce the risk of errors. If you need monitoring or data insights, you can add BRA-IN and gain access to real-time data, notifications and remote support – all in one place.

A low noise level creates a better working environment

The noise level during daily operation plays an important role in the working environment – especially when the machine is placed close to employees in warehouse or retail settings. Many balers typically operate at 70–80 dB, equivalent to the noise of a busy street, which can be harmful over time.

Bramidan balers are designed with noise reduction in mind and operate at a significantly lower sound level. A difference of just 10 dB can be clearly felt – it’s like going from traffic noise to a quiet office. This creates both calm and safety in the everyday environment and ensures a better workplace for your employees.

Choose the right door type for your needs

The choice of door type has a major impact on how the machine functions in your daily work – especially if space is limited or waste needs to be loaded quickly and frequently. That’s why we offer different door types for several of our vertical balers.

Some doors save space by opening sideways or upwards, while others are particularly easy to operate in fast-paced workflows. By choosing the right door type from the beginning, you get a solution that suits both your waste types and your working routines.

Below you can see the door types we offer.

Vertical baler automatic door chamber close up
AD (Automatic door)
Our automatic cardboard baler door opens and closes effortlessly, streamlining the baling process. With its automatic function, operators can load cardboard quickly without needing to manually handle the door, improving workflow efficiency and ensuring a safer, more convenient operation.
Sliding Door chamber close up on baler
SD (Semi-Automatic Door)

The SD-door is always open, which makes it easy to throw waste into the chamber at any time. The Semi-Automatic door is used for the following models: B30 Wide SD, B50 SD and B50 XL SD.

We offer a two-week free trial period where you can test the machine to see if it fits your needs. After the trial period, you can either buy the machine or send it back to us. If you don’t want to keep the machine, you simply send it back to us. The only expense for you is the return transport.
Is it possible to handle bales without fork lifts and ramps?
Yes, the B3 and B4 models are the right machines for that. We can set the machine to make small bales that are no heavier than 25-30 kg.
How large are the bales made by a vertical baler?
The size and weight of the bale depends on waste type and the size of your baler. Machines in our series of small footprint balers make bales that are easy to handle. Baler models B3 and B4 can even be set to make bales that are no heavier than 25-30 kg. Bales from our small series weigh between 30-100 kg (for cardboard) and 40-130 kg (for plastic). Such bales can easily be removed from the baler with a trolley. Simply eject the bale onto the trolley and move it. Bales made by machines in our range of Medium Sized Balers fit on a standard EUR pallet. They weigh between 200-350 kg (for cardboard bales) and 250-450 kg (for plastic bales), and you remove them with a pallet truck or fork lift. Our Large Size Balers compact bales as heavy as 375-600 kg (cardboard) and 400-650 (plastic). If you want to know the exact measurements of the bales, please check the machine specifications.
How does a baler work?

A vertical baler is a machine that uses extreme force to compress loose waste material into a tight bundle, or bale. You place your loose cardboard or soft plastic waste into the baler via the filling opening. Inside the machine, a strong press plate pushes the material downwards. Retainers in the chamber prevent the material from expanding and keep the waste material down when not under pressure. This makes the bale as compact and tight as possible. You continuously place waste in the baler until you have accumulated enough compacted waste to make a bale. The bale is tied of manually by wire or plastic strapping. Bales come in different sizes and weights depending on the size of your baler.

A baler enables you to sort your waste directly at the source; and bales are easy to handle and take up little space. They also make transportation and waste disposal convenient and easy. We offer a wide range of baler designs to choose from to suit your individual needs in terms of waste type, volume, size and ease of use. Our specialists are ready to advise you on the type of baler that will best suit the needs of your business. Please contact a member of our team for further information.

Can you customize a solution for me?
Yes. The horizontal balers can be adapted to your specific needs. For this purpose, we consider your internal work flow, waste streams, types of waste, space available and preferred filling options.
What kind of technology do you offer for fleet monitoring?

We have our BRA-IN solution. A web portal for intelligent fleet monitoring based on data collected from a modem in your baler or compactor.

With BRA-IN you can:

  • Get in control of your fleet of machines
  • Receive a text message or email when a baler is full
  • Advise your recycler directly about bales ready for collection or container to be emptied
  • Tracking of the number of bales you produce over time
  • Save time and money with remote service and troubleshooting
  • Calculate on your Total Cost of Ownership
Is it easy to operate a vertical baler?
Yes – all our balers are designed with a strong focus on user-friendliness and safety. With just a few simple steps, you can compact your waste, and our technicians provide thorough instruction during installation. The machines comply with the EN16500 standard and are safe to use in daily operation.
How much space does a vertical baler require?

Assess the physical space in your facility and ensure there is enough room for the baler and for safely moving the bales. Depending on your waste volume, your company may need a larger machine which in turn, requires more space.

We’re happy to advise you based on your facility’s available space.

What is BRA-IN, and how can it help me?
BRA-IN (Bramidan Intelligence) is our digital monitoring system that provides access to information like fill levels, operational status, and service requirements – directly through an app or web portal. It makes it easier to optimise your waste management, cut costs, and monitor one or several machines from a single interface.
Why choose a vertical baler?

A vertical baler from Bramidan is an efficient solution for businesses looking to compact waste in a space-saving and safe way. Our machines handle cardboard, plastic, paper and many other materials – reducing volume by up to 90%, saving time, space and money.

Whether you need to compact small amounts of waste in a retail environment or larger volumes in a production facility, you’ll find a model that fits.
