Plastic press – Get control of the plastic waste

An efficient and space-saving solution for businesses handling both small and large amounts of plastic
Without the right solution, plastic can quickly accumulate, take up valuable space, and create disorder in storage or production areas. A plastic baler is an effective way to compress your plastic waste and make handling more manageable and economically advantageous.
By using a plastic baler, you can significantly reduce the volume of plastic. This means fewer collections, lower transportation costs, and more structure in your waste management. The compact bales are easy to store, take up minimal space, and can be sold for recycling, contributing to a more efficient and cost-effective waste management.

Benefits of a plastic compactor
- More space: Plastic waste is often bulky and unmanageable. A plastic baler reduces the volume by up to 90%, freeing up valuable floor space in the warehouse, back room, or production line.
- Lower costs: By compacting the plastic waste, the need for containers and collections is minimized. This reduces your disposal expenses and enables you to sell the compact bales for recycling – especially for clean and sorted plastic.
- Safe waste handling: Plastic on the floor can create clutter and pose a safety risk. With a plastic baler, the waste is kept together, keeping work areas clean, organized, and safer. You also eliminate the manual work of cutting plastic into pieces.
- Efficient waste handling and mandatory sorting: A plastic baler helps you sort correctly and handle waste efficiently – including meeting documentation requirements and environmental conditions such as CSRD reporting or ESG initiatives.
- Waste monitoring: Make your machines even smarter with BRA-IN – Bramidan’s IoT platform that provides real-time insights into your waste data. With remote support, notifications, and automatic status updates, it becomes easier to optimize and minimize both costs and CO2 emissions.
Compress different types of plastic waste
Soft plastic
Soft plastic such as stretch film, foil, packaging, and carrier bags is some of the most space-consuming waste in many businesses – especially in connection with goods reception and pallet wrapping. Even though the material weighs very little, it can quickly create clutter and fill up large quantities in bins or on the premises. With a plastic baler from Bramidan, you can compress soft plastic efficiently and collect it in tight bales that take up significantly less space and are easier to handle in daily operations. Proper sorting and low pollution levels also make it possible to sell the bales for recycling.

PET bottles
Plastic bottles made of PET – typically used for beverages and food – quickly fill up in large quantities and can be difficult to compress if not prepared correctly. For optimal compaction, we recommend removing the caps and perforating the bottles to release the trapped air. This ensures that the bales become more stable and compact. In many cases, it can also be advantageous to place a layer of cardboard at the bottom and top of the bale to increase stability and facilitate handling.

Plastic containers
Plastic cans and containers require pressing equipment with high pressing force and solid construction, as the material is rigid and resistant. Our powerful baling presses – especially models in the X series – are developed for this purpose and ensure uniform and durable compression. Plastic containers and drums that are correctly pressed and sorted are also attractive in the recycling market.

Plastic barrels
Plastic barrels are used in a wide range of industries – for example, for storing liquids and powders in the industry. They have a large volume and often need to be pressed individually. This places special demands on both the size of the machine and the press force. At Bramidan, we offer machines specifically designed for barrel pressing, including powerful models in the X-series or our dedicated barrel press. This makes it possible to drastically reduce the volume while maintaining safe and stable operation.

Computer cases
Hard plastic such as cases, cabinets, and boxes are often found in electronics such as computers, televisions, and accessories. This type of waste requires a powerful and durable plastic baler that can effectively handle the materials.
At Bramidan, we help you with the right solution for compressing hard plastic and electronic waste. Contact us for professional advice on waste management and choosing the optimal baler.

Big bags
Big bags are typically used in the construction industry, offshore, agriculture, and other industries with bulk materials. The bags are often made of flexible, but strong plastic fabric and can be difficult to handle without the right equipment. A suitable press should have a wide and spacious chamber where any holders are removed to avoid damaging bags that need to be reused. When big bags are compressed correctly, they take up significantly less space and become easier to store, transport, and forward for recycling.

Function and use of a plastic baler
The primary function of the plastic baler is to transform loose and unwieldy plastic waste into compact bales. This is achieved through an efficient press cycle, where a hydraulic press plate compresses the material in a closed chamber.
Plastic balers are used in a wide range of industries – including industrial, logistics, retail, and food production – where plastic constitutes a significant portion of the waste volume. By installing a plastic baler close to where the waste is generated, you can streamline your internal workflows and avoid unnecessary transportation around the building.

Types of plastic presses – Which one suits your needs?
Vertical vs. horizontal balers
Vertical plastic balers are ideal for businesses with limited space or moderate amounts of waste. They take up minimal floor space and are easy to operate. The high compaction force ensures stable bales that can be easily handled and stored.
Horizontal plastic balers are suitable for businesses with large and continuous amounts of plastic waste. They typically have automatic feeding and binding, providing high capacity and low manual handling. Horizontal solutions are ideal for large productions, storage facilities, or logistics centers.
Small, medium, and large balers
We offer balers in several sizes. A compact model like B3 or B4 is good for smaller amounts of plastic film, while an X30 or X50 can handle larger volumes and hard plastic. For special needs – e.g., big bags or plastic barrels – we have machines built for the task.
Step-by-step guide: How to use a plastic baler
Loading the chamber with plastic
Start by sorting the plastic correctly. Remove lids, metal parts, or any other non-plastic material. Ensure the plastic is not wet or contaminated – this enhances the quality of the finished bale and the resale value.
Compacting the plastic
Once the chamber is filled, activate the compaction cycle. The hydraulic press plate compresses the plastic with great force. Depending on the machine’s size and the type of plastic, the process is repeated several times. The finished bale is automatically or manually tied.
Storage
The finished plastic bales have a firm and uniform shape, making them easy to stack and store – either directly on the floor or on pallets. This facilitates collection, internal transport, and recycling in a more efficient and professional manner.
Mobile and stationary compactors for plastic
For businesses needing efficient waste compaction on a larger scale, we offer both mobile and stationary compactors.
Stationary compactors are ideal for fixed waste centers with high daily waste volumes – they deliver maximum compaction efficiency and low maintenance.

FAQ: Most common questions and answers
Companies with a lot of plastic packaging – e.g. plastic film, stretch film, big bags or plastic crates – often face challenges with storage and disposal. If the quantities are large and the waste accumulates quickly, a waste compactor is the right solution. It can compress large amounts of loose plastic directly into the container and minimises the need for frequent collection.
For smaller to medium amounts of plastic, we recommend a baler instead, which compresses the plastic into compact bales.
If you have large quantities of plastic waste such as plastic film, stretch film, big bags, or plastic pallets in your company, you should consider a professional waste solution. At Bramidan, we typically recommend:
- Compactor: Ideal for companies with a lot of plastic waste. Compacts large quantities directly into a container, reducing the number of emptying cycles and saving on transportation costs.
- Baler: Suitable if you want to separate the plastic and sell it as recyclable material. It compresses the plastic into compact bales that are easy to store and handle.
The choice depends on the type of waste, quantity, and where the waste is generated in the company. We offer free advice and a tailored solution.
According to EU legislation, companies must sort plastic waste at the source and ensure proper handling.
- With a baler, you can easily sort and document recyclable fractions.
- With a compactor, you can manage large quantities of plastic waste without compromising on waste registration and storage requirements.
Bramidan offers guidance to ensure that your company complies with the current waste regulations – now and in the future.
You can save money in several ways – and the choice of machine is crucial:
- A baler reduces volume and enables the sale of sorted plastic waste as recyclable material. At the same time, fewer collections are required.
- A compactor significantly reduces transport costs by consolidating large quantities of loose waste into fewer containers.
Both solutions free up space and provide a more efficient waste flow.
